CASE I

Mrs. A, a 60-year-old female patient who has no known history of cardiovascular disease comes into the ambulatory clinic with flu-like symptoms. The patient suddenly complains of chest pain that radiates to her shoulder. When you asked her how severe her pain is, she states 4/10 on pain scale.

CASE II

Mr. B, age 54, was admitted to the surgical unit yesterday for a 2nd degree chemical burn on his right arm. The patient has a dressing on his right arm to be changed every morning. Yesterday, when you changed his dressing he is complaining of pain at 7/10 on pain scale and was taking Acetaminophen 325mg. He also has a prescription of Tylenol #3 1 tablet PO q 3-4h PRN. The dressing is due to be changed at 9:00.

When do you suggest he will take Tylenol #3? Give the rationale for your answer.

CASE III

Unfortunately, red blood cell count results are extremely low. The doctor instructed her to begin taking 30 mg of Ferrous Sulfate daily. During your shift the patient told you that she is willing to follow her medical prescription but would like to consume milk.
