CASE I
Question 1:

Taken in the morning before meal and other meds.

Take with full glass of water (8oz) 30 mins before 1st food.

Patient to remain upright for 30 mins after dose (prevent esophageal irritation)

Advice to maintain good oral hygiene.
CASE II
Question 1:
1. Supine with the leg of affected side abducted (prevent accidental dislodgement. Note: Placing a pillow or A-frame between the legs helps maintain abduction.
Question 2:

Do not bend forward past 90 degrees.

Do not twist on your operated leg.

Do not Jar your hip such as (dancing, jumping)….

Do not push or carry heavy items

Use chair with armrest to help get up.

Use elevated toilet seat.

No weight bearing on the affected side.

Avoid adduction (do not cross his legs).

Put pillow between his legs for the first 8 weeks after surgery.

Keep the hip in a neutral position or extended when sitting down or walking.
CASE III
Question 1:
1. Naprosyn is given twice a day as his regular pain medication and has an anti-inflammatory effect, while Acetaminophen is taken only when needed (PRN) if his naprosyn is not enough to control the pain.
CASE IV
Question 1:
1. Administer gabapentin 300 mg PRN. Note: Phantom pain is a normal occurence after amputation, it should be treated by medication.
CASE V
Question 1:
1. The right leg is shorter than the left leg.
2. The right leg is adducted.
3. The right leg is externally rotated.
